hey. you might all remember me, i'm the one with the orange mini....... well..

my dad is going to start importing late 90's minis into AUS fully complianced and going to sell them between 8 - 11k each vehicle, these are all 1.3mpi aircon, half/full leather etc 13" wheels and all have low km's i dont have any pics yet but importing will start within the next 6 months

he can also take specialty orders depending on availability of coopers, cooper s's, ERA turbo's and other LM minis from the 90's

let me know if your interested i'm just looking for the right market at the moment...

your lucky to find a low k immac mini for 10k these days so a new old mini for that price is awesome, people are importing them and charging like 20k for them.. stuff that

let us know

cool thanks fellaz

I belive that the youngest mini's that can be imported for comertial perposes are at the moment 15 yr old 88 & 89 models Carbie Cars & that low volume imports of yonger cars stoped at the begining of this year.
At least thats what I was told.

ok well i've been speaking to dad,

things will start happening around september, they will definately be able to import them, i'm located in Bris Qld, price is still 10 - 12 maybe less (unsure but less would be good)

if you want one when its closer to the time of choosing and importing, and subject to availability of the cars that u want i'll have to grab a $3000 deposit on all orders if you change your mind on the vehicle then you will get the deposit back when the vehicle is sold to someone else (so u dont loose your money)

but we will have pics about august when dads mate goes to check out the merchendise :D!!!

but yeh feel free to talk to me on msn [email protected] dont email this addy as it will go to my junk mail :(

Hello, just to inform you that i sure that you wont be able to import these because of the 15 year rules. ive tried. the only way it can be don is if you own the cars overseas for a certain amount of years. And seriously goodluck getting them RWC Reg for under 12k and make a profit. Sorry to put a spin on this just that mine costed be 4k for complience and a shitload for the car.

oh well... all you people think you know everything... i wouldnt have posted here if i didnt know that it could be done! my mini mechanic just had a 97 rover mini imported from dads mate about a month ago fully complianced and roadworthy for $9800... unfortunatly it was the only mini in the container and the warfies shoved other stuff in the container and it crumpled the roof of the mini. the compliance for this mini was 2.5k and we believe that we can get it done for under 1k sooo.... but seriously i wouldnt be speaking here if i didnt know what i was talking about

i can get photos of this car to proove to you all that they can be imported. but its fine if u dont believe me i'll sell them elsewhere.

Will you be able to email us a list of the changes that will have been made to the minis to make them Australian compliant?

I would be interested to see exactly what you will be doing to them. From previous experience every business that carries out these compliance checks seems to do different things.

What company is doing the actual compliance?

I don't think they are stopping you importing them from overseas it's just that it is harder for the business complying them to get their licence to do so (from my understanding anyway). Because of this there seems to be fewer businesses able to comply vehicles.

I understand what Speedfreak is saying but I think this only applies to personal imports. You must then own them overseas for a certain amount of time.

Rules and Regs are changing all the time and if they are in our favour let's go for it.

Hope to hear more news as soon as you have any.
Good luck.

well for jap imports(and any other imported vehicle being US, British etc_ the following rules used to apply.......

If the car is OVER 15 years old the the car can be imported without the requirement of being ompliefd when it gets here. It has to be engineered toi meet australian standards. E.G we have some adrs such as seatbelts etc which are different to the japanese standards etc that need to be replaced.

If the car, hasnt been sold domestically in australia, it can be importted providing the vehicle is complied when it hits our shore as orangemini is saying. Compliance gives the vehicle a new VIN number for australian authorities and complies it to the adrs etc etc etc

HOWEVER for firsthand info visit these guys........the keep a lost of every vehicle which has ever been imported into australia and list the rules that govern importation

DOTARS

Might be talking out of my arse here but wasnt there a specific legislation introduced allowing boutique import of vehicles never sold in Australia - I think it gives easier entry terms to imports of less than 100 vehicles?
