Welded suspension arms eh? Good luck getting that through a safety certificate. I'm pretty sure suspension parts can't be welded unless they've been x rayed and certified if they are to be road legal in this country?????

It looks like they've totally done away with the tie rod that mounts to the subframe right at the front of the car? :-/ It all looks like box section now back to the one mounting point.

I have a great idea, lets take the best handling car and fiddle sticks it completely just so it sits on the deck...

That looks down right dangerous to me. By removing the upper cone and putting the weight of the car onto the bottom arms it means the balljoints are now working in tension and not compression as they were designed. The balljoint seats won't do anything and all the weight of the car now hangs on two nuts!

In addition to this, having the airbag at the front of the lower arm miles away from the vertical suspension loads induces a large twisting / leverage onto the arms - definitely not something a box section with a zig zag in it is meant to do!

Agree, the engineering behind this is pretty dodgey!!

I'm always very critical when there are claims that it will only improve something with no downsides. It's still a spring/damper system like before (the rubber cone acts as a progressive spring), the only all-round 'improvement' you could get (not compromising on handling or comfort) would be to change the geometry.

Which they have - but I very much doubt putting all the weight of the car into the lower subframe (instead of the specifically designed suspension towers) via a welded lower control arm (instead of a cast iron arm) with the lower ball joint in tension (instead of compression, as designed) will do anything but degrade performance.

And on a side note, I'd venture that "the bouncy harsh ride" is what gives the character and handling the mini is so famous for.

No. Just no.

On so many levels that is just on the express train to Wrongtown.

Airbag suspension is for buses and trucks... and it doesn't even work well on those either.
