Karcraft sells a complete kit, its not cheap, i believe its between $1800 - $2000

you should email them for a catalogue, its very handy. [email protected]

as an alternative a few people on this board have successfully converted a set of honda disc brakes to fit on a mini, keeping 10 inch wheels. http://ausmini.tziworld.com/viewtopic.php?t=163

[edit to add honda disc link]

Look in the UK - on Ebay UK or on forums such as http://pub108.ezboard.com/bminiclassic - they've got brake setups for sale regularly (shipping is a bitch though - surface mail is the best option).

I thought the same thing, because i needed a set last year, and i actually figured out that it would be cheaper to buy them from mini spares and ship them over and pay customs.. and at the time it was..

I was too lazy to check the price list yesterday but managed to find it today, and im suprised how much these have come down! according to Karcraft price list as of 4th of may...

C-AJJ4028 <B> DISC BRAKE KIT - MINI COOPER S (CONVERTS DRUM BRAKE MINI) Brake Components

Net: $1492.81
List: $1756.25

dont forget to add GST :)

they're becomming more affordable..

crap, I don't pay that much for my cars...!!

I reckon Hondas are the go. We got a set off an `86 Civic the other day for $80....
All you need then is a bit of machine work, some caliper mounting plates and spacers. The spacers can be made from Mini S drums, if you're skint..

Track width will be the same as a Cooper S or Mini S.

<edit> the spacers shown will be painted black and then screwed on with stock Mini S screws. These are 19mm (for Speedy mags), use 25mm for Contessas etc.

<edit 2> These shown are 7.9" discs for 10" wheels- if using 12" or 13" wheels you can leave the Civic discs stock at 9.2" approx.
For 13x6 or 13x7 wheels you can use Accord ventilated discs- `animal' did this. 8)

How do you guys with the honda disks go each year when you have to get your car checked for roadworthy certificate and registration ?
Do they have to be engineer certified ?

My son's 1132 Clubbie is not quite back on the road yet but I don't see any problem.

When I put a 1310S in my car with S discs at initial reg inspection, they just looked under- didn't even take a wheel off.
I could've had Toyota or Ford ones or whatever.

animal in Qld got his Hondas certified with 13" wheels, no prob he says.

Hi Kevin,
I am interested to see how much metal you need to take off the caliper. In your second photo it looks like a considerable amount has been ground off the end pieces?? Is that safe?

For everyones reference, you can see more information and even buy calipers (in the US) at http://www.discountautoparts.com/ They have some pics also which I found useful. Actually I have seen remanufactured calipers over there for US$20 each and new discs for ~$10 each on some websites (Do a search for Honda brake parts).
Now who is going over there for a visit??

Cheers

Garrath

Very little really needs to come off the caliper, none if going inside 12" or 13" wheels.
On 10s, a fair bit comes off the outside of the ends of the pad mounting bracket the guide pins screw into.

The caliper pictured was supplied from NZ and had already had a bit off it- but they are iron, not alloy, and are way stronger than needed.
My Fiat 124S had alloy ones thinner than these!

re cost- I just bought a set from my local wrecker for $80 complete, with good discs!
