Just watch it guys, they might start defecting mini's for being too low soon.

The only ADR's your car is required to meet are the ADR's for the year the vehicle was built. END OF STORY. If your vehicle has 27A stamped on the compliance plate(mid 74 onwards) you are required to have the pollution gear on your vehicle fitted and operating in accordance with the regulations of the date of manufacture. ETC ETC

If a copper wishes to put a defect on ya he will. in QLD it means a trip over the Engineer's pit. So one scratch in your tint can end up with ya having your entire vehicle coming under scrutiny. That's how my little affair started. Two months and on the fifth inspection they couldnt have picked dirt out of the tyres. Telling the officer that pulled ya over he's a tosser that doesnt know what he's doing, REALLY doesnt help

Experience yes. The scratched tint was in my car, he also told me my car was too loud, and that I had musical air horns.

The fact that I'd had the exhaust dB tested at 92 dint mean crap to him. The fact that I could hold my hand on the horn for five seconds with a flat tone meant nothing.

No matter what I said, he was gonna gimme the defect notice. So i just told him he was a useless fat f*** that dint know what the hell he was on about. Things went downhill rather quickly from there.

YES, I had screatched tint, so he had every right to send me for an inspection, the fact that he wanted to crap on about everything else is what really ticked me off

ADR's were introduced in 1969. Polution ADR's didnt appear till about 1974.

All of my under car neons were on a seperate switch. I had only installed them specifically for the night of the cruise. The neon in the rear window is also on another seperate switch. My headlights and parkers are on the normal switch.

I queried him about why he was making me cut them off and remove them. He asked me why I would have them fitted and not turn them on while driving. He obviously thought I was going to turn them on when he dissapeared. I replied "I use them at shows and when we are parked". He didn't care. He said that if I didn't remove them he would defect me. I replied, you say that it's illegal to drive with them but I don't think it is illegal to have them fitted to my car. He just said that if I didn't remove them he would defect me. As lots of people have said on this subject, it was easier to remove them than to argue with him. I could see that I wasn't going to win.

I have a friend who owns a mini and has neons on his car.... he sits in a car park with other people who have neons on their cars... the police have driven through the park, just to make sure no one is doing anything wrong.... my friend leaves the park and isn't hassled... as long as they aren't turned on while he is driving they don't care.... that's here in qld

I had a phone call yesterday from a police man that is also a club member. He looked up the rules and guess what, it is not illegal to drive around with neons on in Vic. as long as they are not deemed to be "dazzling". Apparently the piece of paper I had with the regs from Tzi is the actual correct rules. The police man read them out to me over the phone from his computer. He is going to email them through to me.

They are planning to change the rules in the future to make this illegal but at the moment they are LEGAL. The windscreen washer blue and white lights are also LEGAL. Of course, if you get a police man like the one I got, you still can't argue and if he says jump, you jump.

It is so annoying to know that you are doing the legal thing, yet the rules can still be interpreted another way by any police man. I guess if they pick you up and say they are "dazzling" even if they aren't, it's your bad luck.

Will just have to stick with the new in car ones I bought I guess and play safe.

8) here's and idea!!!... install them IN-CAR... and then install some clear floor panels! :P
that way... some of the in-car light, might just manage to spill through the floor!

anyhow.. when you get the regs.. can you send em to me.? [email protected]
I was in autopro yesterday where I got that sheet I emailed to you... the guy in there was dead certain that they were legal, as he checked it himself when he got the info from the rep.
(I knew it was right! )
