Thanks guys.
If I go in from underneath, can this be done with the radiator attached?

This may be the deciding factor!

I’d assume that’s how the factory would have done it? Assume everything on the subframe first and then join it to the body

Just a note that if you are pre assembling the radiator etc before installation as a complete unit, make sure all the hose clamp are lined up so you can undo them once they’re in the car.

They made that look easy!
I'll put the engine on the subframe, put it under the car and see how it looks.

Thanks guys.

If the subframe fits OK its pretty easy.
I transplanted my two on one weekend, the Mini Matic 998 into a hydro Clubby which had a GT 1310 motor and front end, and vice versa.

Hint:
Fit the tower bolts in first if so equipped.

Before you get it all together, make sure the subframe fits the body fine (especially if it wasn’t together before). The other annoying part I had was the new engine mounts didn’t fit the subframe, checking those first would have saved some time and effort

It does fit.
I replaced all the front panels and dummy fitted the subframe MANY times :)

Does anyone have an oprion on the various boot lid seals?
This car came with 3 new ones among the boxes and they all have a different cross section.

The one in the middle is the softest, as the outside of the rounded 'D' section is thin.
The one on the right is very (too?) firm.

Any thoughts as to which will be best?

Thanks again for your input :)

I'd start with the softest. Apparently some of the door seals and boot seals are just too firm to allow the door/boot to close snuggly without undue force.

Perhaps lay the chosen seal in place on the boot lid and secure it temporarily with masking tape to check its operation.

Agree with Winabbey, use the softest. I have used 2 different types over the last few years. I installed the one on the right, it is harder, boot was nearly impossible to close with it installed. Removed it and replaced it with the one on the left, much better fit. Fitted another one a few months ago to latest car, made sure I bought the soft one.

This thing is coming together slowly.

Last weekend I dropped the body onto the front subframe and motor. It was w-a-y easier that I expected. I only removed the carbs and dissy cap from the fully dressed motor and it was all installed in under 15 mins :)

I thought I should post some progress pics and give something back, rather than just asking endless questions :)
I still have a long way to go, but am making progress when time permits.....
