I had to get a whole new loom for my van, so just had the pump wiring included. It follows the standard run to the rear as you mentioned.
One thing I will suggest is wiring in a cut out option so that in the event of an accident, it kills the power to the pump.
Some suggestions are to use the oil pressure switch (see attached pic) so that when there is no oil pressure the pump cuts out, but I've used one of these so that a big enough hit will kill the power instantly.
