Hi all,

I've had a stab at pulling the rear end apart today. While most of it is apart I'm thinking its probably a smart idea to replace the trunnion bushes.

What are the pros and cons of rubber vs poly bushes pls.

Keen to hear experiences with both.

Rubber has lasted on mine 50 years. The jury is out on poly.

New rubber ones were cracked and perished on my car in less than six months. I'd go poly or even Swiftune alloy next time to be honest.

Are we talking about rear sub frame bushes x 8 = 2A5818?

It comes down to quality of either. Crap crap crappy versions of rubber AND poly out there. Spin the wheel and see what you get lol.

I preferred Poly as I was restoring mine, but if I had my time again and IF I could guarantee good quality rubber, I'd go rubber in most instances these days I think (except the rubber/poly combo on the front tie rod).

Wherever possible I go for rubber. Fitting bushes to cars every day and rubber is always the first choice for road use. Make sure you use a proper rubber grease on assembly.
