I've done a bit of searching and can't find much about the origin or meaning of the BTA prefix, except that it is mainly used on suspension and steering parts.

I have just purchased a NOS BTA145 and it is packaged in a box marked BTA145 but embossed BTA142. What the!!

Part numbers are often different to casting numbers. One casting can be machined or even used as is for different applications and therefore have different part numbers.

I'll do some searching to see if this is the case here.
