The mini I bought, before I knew anything about mini's, is aparently a UK built Mini 1000. I'm stressing a bit thinking that for some reason they'll knock me back come blue slip time because it doesn't comply with something or other. How did my car likely end up in Australia? Could it be a private import or did they ship lots of them out here? It has no Australian compliance plate as the Aus built ones do, but has a mini chassis number XA2S1N..... Any foreseeable rego problems? I kow lots of Jags etc of that era don't have compliance plates as such. It's a March 1972 build.

Pre 1989 so it should be OK :?: ...if you can find out who brought it in, that might be handy...and any previous registration evidence...

Cheers, best I could do is ask the rta and quote the chassis number, i was told it was previously registered but can't verify that, was given absolutely no information when I bought the car.

Likely issues for a pre-89 UK Mini:-
- Side intrusion Bars
- High mount rear brake light
- Exhaust Emissions
- Retracting rear seat belts

It would have been a personal import as the factory was still making them here at that time. The chassis number is a UK one, all the Australian cars were completely different.

You could check with the other states to see if has been registered anywhere else? If it was imported under the current compliance scheme it would have a personal import compliance plate attached, possibly if it was first registered much earlier it wasn't needed?
