Hi all,

I'm getting ready to put the tank bottom bracket and strap in my car for the RH tank. I noticed the strap has some cork on it to avoid damage to the tank. Was it fitted to the bottom bracket too? Is the cork still available or is there a better option?

Also, what is the best way to attach the bottom bracket to the boot floor? I'm guessing rivet it on as the access from below is non-existent?

Mine had felt stuck on to the straps and the lower bracket, but mine was dealer installed not factory. The lower support bracket was pop riveted on.

Thanks, felt would be a good option too. Looks like Bunnings does adhesive sheets of both

Just checked my NOS straps and lower bracket on project car.
Straps have cork on both upper and lower straps, bracket is spot welded.

Riv-nuts or maybe a plugweld, but not knowing how good the sheet below is, might be better to go the riv-nuts or rivets.

Thanks guys. Riveting will be the best option then (I don't have a welder) and I'll have a look at the cork

Both my '66 and 70 Ss had cork inside top and bottom straps. Recently, I bought a roll of cork gasket material from local parts shop and cut to size. Glued with contact adhesive.
Maybe felt will hold condensation from the tank - cork less absorbent?
When you say "bottom bracket" - do you mean the bracket the tank sits on or the bottom strap for the tank?
The tank stand was sometimes pop-riveted.
In my '66 S, the bottom strap bolts on through the floor and is accessible from underneath for a nut. Later Ss used a captive nut like the LH tank

I've attached images of my Aussie production bracket and anchor plate. The plate has a slight fold mid length, maybe just to secure before bracket is attached. Also painted black.
