Hi just after a little information from people who might be in the know,
I have tracked down a early 60's Austin mini traveller that I would like to get my hands on questions are

Was there many made?
Are there many left?
Are they getting harder to find?
And last one what sort of value are thay?

Thanks in advance for any information

Austin minis were never built here. We only had Morris minis.
A traveller is rare in Australia because as said they were not built here and have been imported at some stage. But there are a few about.

Sort of value... more than a deluxe and not as much as Cooper S....
Fully restored and mint probably mid 20's, needing full resto and engine rebuild a few grand.... All depends on condition.

My opinions
Brenton

I have one, but yes they are rare as they are all imports.
The story going is that one was given to every consulate in the British Empire for the lady of the house to run around in, so promoting British manufacturing.

I reckon there are about 50 travellers (Morris and Austin) in Australia - there are probably 20 that are regulars at state shows, then a few more that are hidden away, and then a bunch that need restoration belonging to people like me...

It seems like there are more Austins in Aus than Morris, and it'd be interesting to know how many are left in UK given most were lost to rust

googled and found this - http://www.minitravellerandcountrymanre ... 3&Itemid=3

21 registered from Aus - mine isn't on it - from that I reckon my 50 is a pretty good guess

I have a 1965 Austin Cooper (998), and a 1963 Austin Countryman (woodie), both genuine Austins, both UK built for export.
Morris Traveller and Austin Countryman were both built on the same production line.
Travellers and Countryman were never built in Australia. Morris vans were built in Aus, but the Countryman/ Travellers (known as "estates") have different rear floors and are easily distinguished. Vans generally did not have rear side windows, but many were fitted with windows (usually non-opening) after purchase.
There is quite a good Australian Facebook page for Travellers/ Countryman now, and a Register run out of UK that has been mentioned above.
Cheers

One good thing you could do is get a Heritage Certificate for your car...may fill in some blanks for you.

My wife has a 66 Austin Super-Deluxe (850) - a sedan. I also have a 65 Morris Traveller. Neither are common in Australia.

Yes, and Austin Mokes, that went to Malaysia (I think) and Morris 1800s that went to NZ

Separate Distributors for Morris and Austin...

Austin Distribution Federation, Petone (Lower Hutt, Wellington)

Morris was Dominion Motors, Auckland (Newmarket and Panmure)
