Hi all
Back in the late 60's I owned a 1967 mk1 dark blue cooper s, Victorian registration no. KOX 383. (not the original number though). After a few years of flogging and rallying it, I sold it to someone out Moonee Ponds way. I regret to this day that I sold it. I have checked the Vic Roads number plate site and the number is available which counts out a quick way of locating it as now if it is still around, it would now have a different number, perhaps the original number. I haven't checked personally with Vic Roads on how to locate this car.
Is there anyone out there know how to go about checking out the possibe existence of this car, could even be anywhere in Australia for all I know.
Much appreciated.

Association of Motoring Clubs in Victoria might be able to search old Vicroads info they have using your rego number. But it will require a payment I suspect.
Google AOMC to find their website.

The only info I can offer having done a VicRoads archive search on mine is that if you give them the above rego, they may for a fee be able to provide the engine and body number. I did this in reverse giving them the engine number to find the original rego number and now have the original plates back. They also told me all the different rego numbers the car has had. They wont however give any info on the current owner if there is one but they may give you the current rego number which may help by then being able to put that up in places like this. The search fee a few years ago was around $35- and they even sent a copy of the original rego papers (with the owners name and address blacked out). The archives were kept in Denmark St, Kew when I did it and I wrote them a letter with a cheque enclosed. It didn't take too long. I may have just been lucky but thought this info may be of some assistance. Good luck.

I have a copy of the letter I sent to them at work but I am on leave for 3 weeks so cant give you the address but if you call VicRoads and ask for the Archive Section they should put you through and you can ask what the go is and fees etc. When I did mine they were surprisingly keen to do it like it was a challenge for them to be able to do it so I hope you get the same response.
From the rego in the photo it must have been re registered in late 69 or so?? I wonder why the plate changed back then, was it a government car? Interesting.
Cheers.

You're pretty well spot on with the re rego date Flute. It was reregistered as slack old me didn't pay the rego on time. Comprehensive insurance at the time was $300 a year which to me was a fortune back then, it kept me broke. So I sorta drove around unregistered for some time till I could afford the rego. So when I went to the cop shop to pay it, they said na, you need to re rego it. No roadworhy was required back then, just a bit of paperwork.
