McQueen raced in the UK at Brands Hatch. There is a photo around of him with Whitmore, Elford and Christabel Carlisle together at a post-race presentation after a race-long duel. McQueen drove Whitmore's Mini on loan...

Later when he had money to burn...he was still an enthusiastic competitor on 2 wheels and 4...saying in interviews it gave him a real buzz away from the tedium of fame and making movies etc
