Hey guys,

Just wanted to say, if you are looking for a kick butt trolley jack at a bargain price, check out Costco's $170 Arcan (USA brand) trolley jack.

It's low enough to get under Lillee with only one finger height at the front wheels (leaking hydro, another story for another thread perhaps). It's relatively light weight at 20kg and is built solidly. Looks the business too. 5 pumps to full height! Used it first time last night and thought it was awesome.

Only one criticism is that it's a little too big for a mini, but was able to jack front and back fine.

Next best trolley jack that I could find was a Kincrome racing jack for $400 and was set on that until I saw this. The Kincrome one looks superior and has a smaller footprint too but at more than double the price and it only has 1 yr warranty (not lifetime like most Kincrome stuff).

Costco Auburn have only 213,167 of them in stock so no need to hurry...

Looks pretty swank in the piccy's , ive one of those old 90's trolley jacks havent tried it under pickles yet , but i think i will have a problem though as they were pretty chunky.

I bought one of those Arcan ones about a year ago, and it's great - really good build quality and looks pretty swish too.
I still use my el-cheapo superworks one a bit because it's half the width for when you need a smaller unit under the car.

Might just point out that $170 for the jack is the price after you're a paid member ($50).

Yeah I finally got the sh!ts with my old trolley jack last week. I have to jack the car from a different point, wait till the hydro fills the front bag, lower it so that there is 2-3cm extra in height, then jack it at the correct spot.

Can't believe I put up with it for so many years :oops:

Yeah its wierd how you just accept things how they are until you see a easier way then its always omg i should have done that years ago lol , i have one of those mini sissor jacks ? with pickles are they any good ? .

Scissor jacks are fine, any jack is fine I suppose but it's how convenient you want jacking up your car to be that all. I find that I jack my car up often enough to get the sh!ts with the old jack (which has also started to leak fluid all over my painted garage floor :evil: ) and hence the quest for a new, easier to use jack...

I bought one of these a year or two ago, agreed - they're awesome, even more so for the price.

No need to rush though, it appears to be a permanent stock item and they never seem to run out.

On the old 1100 I just had someone bounce the rear hydro and I would slip the jack under the front

Much harder on your own :lol:

I have a very similar looking one but it is orange. Can't remember where I got it from now.

I got all excited when I first read your post then realised I already had one. I've got that one and a massive large one from years ago. I tend to grab the aluminium one by preference.

Does anyone know the best way to top up the oil and bleed them? what sort of oil to use?

Its probably not the used engine oil I've been using in my old supercrap jack :P

Hey kev, it says specifically not to use any old oil or brake fluid and to use "Hydraulic Jack Oil"

Don't know about your model but there should be a way to pour in the oil and bleed the system too apparently...

I have 2 jacks, 20W/50 works for me.. they are over 10 years old and working fine.

There will probably be a bung just infront of where the handle connects to the jack. That's where you put the hydraulic oil in. Engine oil could be used, or probably ATF or whatever you please, but it is meant to be hydraulic oil. If there is any air pressure in the system (jack stays up a bit after you release the pressure) then it will be released when you open this bung also.

As for "bleeding" the air out after topping up, just pumping then releasing the jack should do the job.


Word of advice when topping up the oil, don't do it whilst the jack is in use to get those last few pumps out of the jack, because if you put too much in, all the excess will come out when you let the jack down :oops:
