I was gonna ask if that was the best option... is it OK to use the slot drill to basically do a ~6mm pilot hole, then use a twist drill in to that, or will it still go off-centre?

I would go big with the slot drill. Then take a bare minimum out with a twist drill.

Hey Mark

yes we use cast iron threaded rod for the 2x end stud plugs, we gave Jspinx the nod on that lot years ago, (along with a pile of guys in the UK that we helped sort plugs for as well)

& we also use the CNC mill to drill all the new holes dead true to the crank center-line
it`s easy with the right know-how & the right gear hey? :-)

& yes the SC build guide is very very poor, i think they`d rather customers pay them to do the whole job than give them the knowlege on how to do it themselves :-)

anything you need just give us a bell mate, happy to help,
weve had a couple of SC jobs come through here & they were both a total pain.
& we have another one here now too, not fun but has to be done :-)

Hey,

How's the project coming along?

I'm in a similar boat to you. Bought the SC guide and found it piss-poor as a technical document, especially for the price. Any thoughts on dry decking?

No progress. I have 2 engines to get sorted before this one. Unfortunately I have found that the squeaky wheel gets the grease and I haven't chased them up enough. It has been about 5 months since the first engine went in and I doubt I'll get it back before Feb at this rate.

It is always that balance between "take your time and get it right" or hassle him too much and he slaps it back together to get rid of you.

I may have to do the Twinky another way.
