Working on a b16 swap, engineer is happy with everything im doing and previous mod plate carries over which is making life easy.
His only thing is the lack of collapsible steering, ive seen a lot about the steering folding up and away, and some photos from tests but done anyone have proof of this, original engineering diagrams or anything i can show him?

Or what are simple swaps? ive seen some have used mk3 fiesta in the uk, honda civic and starlet.

The (Holden) Opel Corsa Barina or various Suzukis including the Ignis have the same splines and fit, with the bonus that they have electric power assist.

If you want to retain the original Mini steering arrangement then it will have complied with the relevant ADR at the time of production of your car, so you can quote that. Or is he insisting on a later ADR?

In case it helps here's a link to the Leyland Australia Mini Clubman crash test photos - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=85906

I saw on Facebook a company called "Alien Retro Columns" with a modified mini collapsible column. Unfortunately no price but may worth contacting.

I'm also interested in this as need a column for my supercharged motor for NSW Rego. Do you have any more specifics Simon? I've done a lot or research into this and contacted many mini parts dealers and haven't been able to get a 100% answer of which model will fit. I purchased a column made for a Morris Minor however it isn't quite right either.

The later model Rover's have air bags which creates potentially more issues.

Alien Retro Columns are able to offer something for around $1200 but my engineer said that's a bit over the top, but it's the best so far.

Any help would be great!

Cheers
