just a quick one, if you can find a toyota echo sportivo engine 1500cc vvti, they go well, and are quite a thin engine so they would go in a mini, or an 80's civic have reliable engines too

$232 to buy a Morris 1100 auto matic, take the engine out swap a few bit over and into the mini matic. Plus $21 for a Blue slip engine number change and about $50 at the RTA.
Total cost $303.
A Bloody Bargin!!

Woot! Thats what I have. If only I could get motivated and more cash so I can put it in :(

Im slowly getting over converting, the worked 998 sitting next to the mini is looking better everyday.

Has anyone gone with a Suzuki Cultus engine in Australia? They are the equivilant of the the Swift GTI but are apparently a bit better built internally and have a bit more power. I was lead to believe that one of the models came as a stock turbo?

I guess someone on the Suzi forums might know a bit more about these. I guess they shouldn't be too expensive to buy outright?

I do but then I keep thinking its a long way off being finished and my daily driver would run a mid 11 day in and day out. It has a BOV too! Then I think why bother... :?

Cultus engine is 85kw compared to aussie g13b engine that has 74kw. Differences was higher compression, bigger free flow intake manifold, different exhaust runners, different cams and ecu changes.

No g13b engine ever came factory turbo anywhere in the world.

Thanks for clearing that up 13secmini, I wasn't sure and had only come across the name a while back while surfing and from what a mate told me.

has anyone here dropped one in their mini? Would a import front cut be cheaper than a aus delivered one? Sorry, just showing my complete lack of knowlege here! :P

yes there is atleast 8 minis with suzuki g13b (swift GTi) motors in them that i have seen with my own eyes. Will fit in a clubbie easily and in a round nose but alittle more involved.

Last importer i spoke to said it is getting very hard to source the motors now in japan, they are getting pretty old now, designed in 1985. Dont get me wrong they are a killer motor and great swap in a mini, but if you have a clubman go the 4efte (toyota starlet GT).....

Both 1/2 cuts will set you back around $2000 for a very good example. You can get a complete GTi here for that now, but will probably need a rebuild as most have done over 200 000kms now.

cultus 4wd was japanese only, g13b powered, but there are about 4-5 in australia. These do not like anymore power then standard motor, similar to standard GTi box, pretty fragile.

well the falcon is boring.. everyone and their grandma has got one.
a worked 998 will be plenty fun if you change your mind.

haha somehow I think my XR6 is different to every other falcon on the road. The day 300rwkw becomes boring Ill eat my hat.

If your in melbourne Im sure a quick ride would change that attitude! There is something about refinement, custom leather seats, a stable ride above 230kms/hr, AP racing 4 pots with 330mm discs all round and 308rwkw that excites me. :P

The problem with all that refinement is you actually need to be going alot faster to make it exciting...

While doing a slower speed in a mini is always even more exciting... Feeling all the bumps & twists through the body... Wondering if your brakes will stop you... Etc etc etc... Where you need to be doing 230kmh for it to be exciting... anything over a 100 -160 is exciting in a mini..
