Okay, time for a quick update................
With Easter well and truly over, and no work getting done on The Cat in that time (due to picking up 4 Paw from Simon's place), its time to start back on the Mini in earnest.
At this point in time, all the bodykit is permanently affixed to the car, except for the front spoiler which has to be reshaped and wont be affixed permanently anyway, and all the joints glassed in.
Today I started bogging and fairing the glassed joints and also all the screw holes as well. The join where the fibreglass part affixes to the body will also have to be bogged, faired and sanded smooth.
I am using epoxy resin and microballons as the filler as this will entail that no shrinkback will occur (unlike bog), and also it bonds really well with the fibreglass panel.

Passengers side:
Any fibreglass to fibreglass joint has been glassed over for strength and to give that seamless look:
And then bogged with a mix of epoxy resin and microballons:
As does all the screw holes and bodykit to shell joints:
This week will entail bogging and sanding smooth all the fibreglass panel to panel joints, screw holes and panel to shell joints. Then some high-build primer and its done. Next job will be to cut and shape the front spoiler and finish it ready for the moulding process. The I need to finish the seat mounts (already started), and then a new MkIII subframe. Then take that lot to the powdercoaters.
Still a lot to be done before it is returned to the painters for its final topcoat.
Cheers,
Tricky
