which one? the vtec probly rev's the most and has more power but is harder to fit.
the 4efte is a little less on power and probly weighs less and easier to fit.
g13b sounds like a mini, but i dont know much else about them.
why did you choose the motor you use?

FITS EASY... & Is AMAZING ON the power you can get out of them...

BUT I also want to do a v-tec... NOT many on the street in AUS.... & Power without a Turbo.... HMmmm so much more track friendly...

Cost wise & ease of fitting I voted for the 4efte.
There is also a wealth of information on how to / not to do now.
Trial & error engineering can be frustrating & expensive.

i voted g13b because everyone is doing tartlets and hoondas.. ;) and for the roundy factor.

but if i had the cash i'd go the honda...ultra reliable engine and a beautifully smooth gearchange.

the video of the 160hp vtec van on the nurburgring helped with that decision.. ;)

my only problem with the vtec is the track increase starts to look a bit excessive and the non-(modified)roundy factor

I went the 4efte mainly because that's the one I'm doing. The VTEC is nice but changing the track and suspension kind of takes it further away from remaining a mini to me as does the creation of flip front. My 2c's.

I just ditched the g13b in favour of the 4efte.

Some said I was crazy as I was so far along but...... One only needs to nominally increase the boost on the 4efte and your hp figures increase exponentially (sp?).

I wanted more power than the N/A gti had to offer. I was up for a $1k min to make it do what I wanted it to do so I bit the bullet. Short term pain, long term gain.

I have just about got my B16a1 vtec up and running.
I would like to do a mini like Brads as well.

I went with the 4efte because you can pickup the engine, loom, box, computer etc for around $1600 - $2000.

You can then turn up the boost or change the turbo and increase power relatively easy without huge costs.

i didnt know you had to change suspension and track width with the vtec..hhmm i was going to go the vtec way but now im leaning towards the toyota..
but im not a fan on turbo's, i like NA power not forced induction, im not against it i think turbos are great creations but i like the throttle response of NA. i've done corners in a S14 series 2 (SR20det) and when it hit 3grand and boost came on, the car just lost control. and also im not looking for heaps of horse power, i like being able to be full throttle in the mini on corners.
if the engine is too powerfull im afraid it will ruin the balance of the car. do you guys understand what im saying?
its kind of like putting a sr20det in a toyota sprinter. its just too much

If you stick to the standard CT9 turbo on the 4efte, the power delivery is very smooth.....you dont feel the turbo 'kick in' at certain revs.....it spools up very early and gives useable power right through the revs.

What engine are you using now? 1100? with any of the above engines you will have to re-learn how to drive the car. WIth more than double the power, holding it flat through corners wont be an option unless it is a very big corner, or you have very good tyres, or both.
With the 4efte you will drive differently. Instead of trying to maintain speed though a corner so that you can make it up the next hill, you can take it a bit easier on the bend and boot it out of the corner.....and something will actually happen! Instead of just a noise increase and no speed increase (mini engine) you will get pushed back into your seat and hit scary speeds very quickly.

this is from my starlet experience....i dont have any 4efte mini experience at this stage, someone else may be able to back up or counter my claims......

cheers,
Jeremy

A+ 1275 actually.
and i havnt got a heavy foot like (takumi comment) but one cool thing about mini's is being able to be full throttle through corners, sure having a hybrid mini would mean you would take your corner then fly up the hill, but in order to get the maximum amount of grip out of your tyres your going to have to use throttle..(counter understeer with throttle and left foot braking) and when your car has twice the amount of power....
ofcourse im sure you'd learn to cope with it but everyone should remember that even though you can get TO the corner quicker, doesnt mean you can TAKE the corner quicker...and the quicker you go the harder you have to stop.
i think i'll have a nice 1275mini and a vtec mini.
vtec as a daily driver and 1275 for the downhill
just my opinion

A mini is so light the power delivery of a 4EFTE is very smooth and linear, it just builds and build power..or break traction on command
