What a different engineer said about the cat........

Under NSW clean air regulations, you are not allowed to downgrade
emission control equipment on an engine, even if the engine is going into an
older vehicle. The cat convertor rates a specific mention. Even if the
engine is modified to operate on LPG or CNG, the cat is still required!

darnnit!! where do i fit one in the mini?

Yeah, that's why I'm going to get him to check again.
I have the original Subie ones fitted ATM, but will scrap them if not mandatory

AWD my engineer has actually given me a written authority, but he stated that it had to do with the fact that it is a pre 72 model which made the difference. Go figure????

This is proof that you can read the law in different ways...

also perhaps it is because the motor is from overseas and was no released here in australia.
I remember something along those lines from a while ago, when doing rb25 into a mates eh
Perhaps thats the reason.

Yeah maybe also this is in the ACT and the engineer indicated that they had just changed the law back to no cat whereas it had been previously car required, which seems equally strange to me.

Also how'd the EH go with a RB25 (DET?).

well still sitting in the garage, needs the harness done. He decidied it was not they way to go as he had to mod that much stuff to make it fit, that it would have been simpler to just go the v6. actually now that I think about it, it was a rb20t??. Anyway he said that for the same cost as this install he could have had a real nice V6 in it about a year ago.
he bought a you-beaut rack from some bloke in QLD and it turned out not much better then the pat gardner for bump steer (engineer said)
