I have the Moke, 3.44 diff, 13" wheel recalibrated through Ringwood Speedo's, quite a few years ago now, and it is the genuine Smiths speedo just the odometeris now inaccuate, shows 0.86... for every 1km travelled

xcellent tainted....
You just reminded me that we have a VDO specialist here in Newcastle who recalibrates smith gauges. He also will re-wire your tacho to suit high energy ignitions. kick ass!! I think from memory he has alot to do with jags and mgs

Sorry, I didn't pick up on this earlier - you are planning on using your original Mini gauges with the GTi box?

If so you will need them to make you up cable, or at least an adaptor to fit the mini cable to the Suzy box.

yeah thats the plan. I am going to get the smiths tacho rewired to suit the high energy ignition as well.
Perhaps I may not need the speedo re-calibrated, but who knows what the out put ratio is. I might also be able to swap drive gears (I know this can be done in most autos) assuming other suzuki gearboxes had similar gears.
Ah get the motor in the bay first.

OK, I ran some numbers.

Guessing a 94/95 Swift GTi: 175/60 R14
Mini - say 10" Yokos A008: 165/70 R10

1777mm / 1524 mm = 1.166

so you speedo would read 16% high.
you will have to do something about that later :)

thats assuming that the output ratio is the same. Thats what I will have to wait and see. Do all gearboxes have the same output ratio?
ie.. one turn of the wheels = one turn on speedo cable?
