Could someone please tell me is it possible to get brand new brake rotors redrilled to suit the Minilite stud pattern. Also how hard is it to 'connect' them to the mini. I just like the idea of have new brakes not imported brakes on the mini.

Also does anybody know how much this will cost ? I know it will cost a fair bit but was just looking for a figure to put next to it.

What hubs are you using? There are PLENTY of brakes options available for most mini disc brake hubs. Most of which are going to be up to the task of anything that you ask of the brakes. This is not really an area where you should go looking to re-invent the wheel (pun intended). The work has been done for you already by 45 years of testing.

The measurements for any disc rotor are very specific. The depth of the disc positions it on the hub and subsequently it's position within the calliper.. The diameter needs to fit inside the line of the calliper. Of course you can 'modify' a few of the position/measurements by using spacers and turning the discs down to the appropriate size but you would then be just doing exactly the same things as the honda conversion.

To losely answer your question, I don't think brake disc manufacturers would supply you with a 'blank' disc. You could drill four new holes as is done with the honda setup.

Though having said that Low'n'Blown has a completely fabricated hub/calliper/rotor assembly I'm told. e will approach upwards of 150hp atw so he can justify the expense. Unless you have something like this in mind I would hardly say its worthwhile. 13secmini has upwards of 160hp(ish) atw the wheel and he is using metro rotors. I first got a set of Metro about six years ago. Hyrdolastic suspension was shot and jumping on the brakes I was able to lift the back wheels off the ground. I just bought some new rotors for the metro, $60 a rotor. Hard to go past really (so long as you are going to a wheel larger than 10 inch)

I don't think it's recommended to redrill rotors. You can buy replacements from dba or the like for around $100ea for most makes.

I have been looking at the DBA website and they say that they can custom drill rotors. And I thought that as I am planning to do a fair bit of track and drag work I thought that these would be safe.

Your going to have to look into your options..

There are a few common setups..

S 7.5" - OK..but very expensive and there are better setups out there

Honda 9.2" - Very Good, though they use the drum hub/cv (cheap) but no recommended for huge power if your going to thrash them. I have them on my car and they are awesome, seen track days and countless fast road abuse.

Camira 9.2" - Very Good ...Vented...Uses drum hub, but there are version that use the drum flange (like the hondas) or disc flange (much stronger)...You need and adaptor plate made up and a bit of work..same for hondas..

Metro Turbo Vented 8.4" - Need disc hubs (expensive).. they're vented 4pot....not as common here (UK import) resist fade well, but ultimately I think the other two stop just as well if not better..

I have the Holden camira 9.2 vented. ok i don?t have the power of some of the others. but im very happy with them. stops better then cooper S with booster.


I haven?t tried connecting the booster yet. im worried they will lock up to easy.

I have ordered a set of 12'x5' superlights 165 yoko's

Mano...... He got 13 * 7's.

I got 12 * 5's, 165's and metro hubs and they are fleas dick outside the plastic innocenti style flares.
